1833 (Jan. 1) entire letter to Aberdeen with very fine second type "guadeloupe", rated "26" amended to "48" and red arrival datestamp (13.2) on the front. The letter from Lt. Col. J.A. Farquarson, leader of the expeditionary force which captured to Island, with interesting contents ".... since I commencd writing this I have received order from the quarter to embark as 12 o'clock this day to the island of St. Martins there to take command of the forces and administer the civil government in the absence of its Governor..."; fine. A rare cover from the period of the fourth British Occupation of Guadeloupe
