1916 (9 Apr.) red band cover to Chinchow in Shansi province bearing, on the reverse, Peking print 3c. tied by Kuchengtze English/Chinese c.d.s. with several transit c.d.s. including Lanchow, Sian and Taiyuan; the cover with a fine example of the Kitai type 1 censor seal (tied by Sian c.d.s.) and with a fine strike of the despatch c.d.s. on the address side. An interesting underpaid cover which should pay 6c. to other provinces. Believed to be the earliest use of a Sinkiang censor label. Photo
