Ceylon 100r. Line perf vertical Strip of three.
1938 100r. purple and blue perf. 14.15 line, vertical strip of three, fine used, each cancelled in manuscript with "2522", initials, and dated"3.5.43". A spectacular multiple of this mysterious and recently discovered perforation variety; which may come from six discarded sheets that survived the December 1940 bombing of De La Rue. Photo

Note: The circumstances surrounding the perforation of the 100r. remain a mystery. Whilst it is documented that Messrs Williams Lea & Co printed the 14,15 perf Rs50 value there are no recorded despatches of the 100r. within the period of known use of the line perforator. The Rs50 and probably a few reperforated sheets of Rs100 were despatched before the Bermuda high values.
