1941 (5 Feb.) envelope from Sweden, via Singapore, to Java, franked at 230ö, showing Singapore "q" and "15" sorting marks, Singapore and DEI Censor marks and, on reverse, Baghdad transit datestamp (19.2). Even though the envelope is marked "PAA - TPA & Lisbon - New York - Hong Kong - Batavia", the more direct route via Amsterdam was blocked by German occupation, it was in fact flown by ABA from Stockholm to Moscow, from Moscow the air mail was sent south to Tehran and then on to Baghdad by BOAC or by rail, from Baghdad by BOAC to Singapore and KNILM to Batavia. A rare used route and very rare. Photo
