1932 (20 Oct.) 15c. registered envelope from Miri to Switzerland, marked "Karachi - Brindisi - Switzerland" on "by air mail" etiquette, uprated 37c., showing registration h.s. at upper left and, on reverse, Penang (25.10) and Vaduz datestamps. Only 4 covers recorded at this rate which lasted from 14 December 1931 to 20 October 1932. Photo

Note: This cover travelled by surface from Sarawak, via Penang, to Karachi to catch the DH66 Hercules landplane leaving on the 2nd November for the long trip west to the Persian Gulf, Baghdad and to Haifa. From then it went by road to Tiberias and loaded on the flying-boat, via Athens, to Brindisi, then by train to Switzerland.
