1930 (29 May) envelopes (2) flown from Kuching to Miri and to Sibu, marked "R.A.F. Flying Boat S1419", both franked at 14c. and showing "by air mail" label with arrival datestamps (30.5) on reverse; also Kuching Post Office Mails List for 29th May, Kuching Mail Waybill dated 29 May with "One bag" marked against Sibu and Miri and Mail Receipt dated 30th May for "One bag mail from Kuching". Note: On May 26th 1930 two RAF Southampton flying-boats, S1419 and S1149, flew from their base at Seletar to Kuching. They were to make a detailed survey of the northern coastline of Borneo to locate suitable sites and seaplanes bases for later use. On May 30th both planes flew from Kuching to Miri, calling at Sibu on the way. 26 registered and 110 ordinary letters were carried. An airmail fee of 10 cents per ½ ounce was charged in addition to normal postage.
