1861 (3 July) entire letter from St. John's to Boston, marked "p mail via Halifax", bearing 4d. orange-vermilion with good to large margins on three sides, just clear at right, tied by oval of bars, showing red despatch c.d.s. alongside partly overstruck by "boston/b. pkt/5" datestamp (12.7) with arrival c.d.s. on reverse. Only six covers bearing this stamp on covers to the U.S.A. are known to exist, this being the only one to Boston, the others having Baltimore addresses. B.P.A. Certificate (1986). Photo
