A14 (Forme 1, displaced Stereo), addressed to an officer of the 25th. Regiment of foot stationed at the Cape of Good Hope, "paid" tombstone datestamp of 20 Aug. 1840 and "london/paid ship letter" of the same date, redirected on arrival to Exeter, then to Brecon and finally to Cheltenham, on reverse "dover/india letter" and a variety of datestamps; a little worn around the edges but an extraordinary usage and one of only three Mulreadies recorded used to South Africa.
