There was no formal postal service to Bermuda prior to 1806
1796 (4 May) double entire letter to Scotland carried on the Falmouth-New York Packet, rated 1/- packet rate = 1/- to London 7d. to Glasgow = 2/7d. and showing, on reverse across join, a good strike of the "Halifax N-S./May 1795" boxed handstamp, rare with fewer than six strikes recorded, overstruck by London datestamp and with circular-framed "glas/gow" handstamp on face. The only known cover from Bermuda by the Falmouth packet prior to the establishment of a regular service in 1806. Photo
