(x) The Sir Robert Rich Correspondence
1628 (16 Mar.) entire letter headed "Sumer Iland" from John Hanmer to Sir Nathanial Rich at Warwick House, Holborn, London, writing to his employer about a shipment of tobacco and saying very clearly that this letter and an invoice are being sent by the ship Lydia, docketed as received on 28 April via Dartmouth. Public Records Office handstamp on face panel. A remarkable letter, it being virtually unheard of to have such explicit information about a specific carrier at this very early date. Photo
