Clark to U.S.A., bearing 1940 2d. green and brown (2) cancelled with double-ring datestamps and showing, on reverse, "h.m.s. bounty/pitcairn island"/hands across the sea" illustrated cachet, the flap sealed with stamp margin tape and with white censor label with roneo printed "opened by examiner/pitcairn island." initialled "DS". Very rare. Photo

Note: During June-August 1944 there was a small covert force of U.S. and New Zealand personnel on the island and mail was subject to censorship using a label as offered above. Only a small number of covers are known with this censorship
