1859 Issue
(2d.) carmine with close to large margins and large part "cancelled" obliterator; small thin at top right corner, otherwise fine. Very rare with not all six examples yet recorded. S.G. 3, £11,000. Also (½d.) forgery "used" and (1d.) used with large part framed "franca" handstamp. Photo

Note: In August 1861 the printers, Perkins, Bacon & Co., provided six examples of each stamp in their possession to Ormond Hill (eldest son of Sir Rowland Hill) for members of the family. These fascinating stamps and the story behind their appearance have been fully described by Peter Jaffé in his book "Cancelled".
Three examples have been recorded and this stamp is from position 5 in the vertical block of six.
