1856 (4 Jan.) entire letter from James Williams of the 28th. Regiment at Camp Sebastopol to England, headed "Officers letter from the Crimea" rated "3" and showing, on reverse, large part British Army Post Office and London (20.1) datestamps; interesting contents including "... the docks of Sebastopol have been partly destroyed, and the town removed piecemeal, whereas French, English and Sardinian Camps exist. The Russians throw a few shells every now and then...". It also mentions General Wigand. Photo
