Benjamin Wyon
1834 a part letter being an autograph list of three medals, Prize Medal of the Institute of British Architects, Prize Medal of the Plymouth Royal Humane Society and The Duke of Wellington - a Medal engraved for the Wellington Club, founded 1832 and is signed "Benjamin Wyon, Chief Engraver of His Majesty's Seals". The letter is addressed to H. Howard at the Royal Academy, Trafalgar House and delivered privately. Photo

Benjamin Wyon (1802 - 58), chief engraver of the seals, born in John Street, Blackfriars, London,he was the second son of Thomas Wyon the elder. He received instruction from his elder brother, Thomas Wyon the younger and in 1821 gained the gold medal of the Society of Arts for a medal die of figures. He also gained the silver medal of the Royal Academy for a die with the head of Apollo. On 10 Jan. 1831 he was appointed chief engraver of the seals and made the great seal of William IV. He subsequently produced many medals, his signature being ‘B. Wyon’ and ‘Benj. Wyon.’
