Oregon and Transcontinental Company, certificate 100 Shares, 18[88], #41190, green, issued to J.D. Clews, on the back original signature of J.D. Clews and of the famous Banker and Broker Henry Clews (1835-1923). Clews started his own brokering business in 1877. He organized the "Committee of 70," which deposed the corrupt ring associated with William M. Tweed in New York City and served as a consultant to President Ulysses Grant. Top right paper chipped, VF.
