The Central American Company, 1000 Shares $25 each, New York 185[60], #182. Three vignettes. In 1839, King Robert Charles Frederick of the British dominated Mosquito Territory (Today Nicaragua and Honduras) conveyed to Peter and Samuel Sheperd from Georgia a large body of more than 22 million acres of its territory in repayment for his debts. In 1855, the land was transferred to 18 US-Investors. They founded this Central American Company for the colonization of the land and development of its resources. The shares were issued at $25, each share representing 100 Acres of Land. Very early and rare item of US involvement in Central Amercia VF
