Star Omnibus Company, London Ltd., £5 preference shares, 190[4], #1058, vignette of buses in centre, ornate border, green and black, printed by Waterlow Bros & Layton. Formed in 1899 to acquire the Andrews Star Omnibus Company and by 1900 had acquired 196 buses and nearly 1800 horses. Despite a few years of success the company got into financial difficulties by 1905 after the poor performance of some newly acquired Motor buses and there was also severe competion from its huge rival, the London General Omnibus Company and the new electric tramways and London underground system. VF and scarce.
