c.1926 series of essays for an unissued KGV design produced by H.L. Richardson, similar to the New Zealand 'Admiral' series from the same period, comprising a page of detailed pencil essays on brown paper (3); a complete large essay, a stamp sized version and a sketch of the monarch in profile, a photograph of the engraved design at a more advanced stage endorsed "Likeness wants touching up" and "Unfinished Design for a Cook I stamp/ H. Linley Richardson RBA", with a further page of very early draft sketches. A fascinating and unique insight into the design process, likely to be ex-Bradbury Wilkinson archive. Photo
