LL good to very large margins all round, tied by a light strike of the purple-maroon (or purple-brown) Maltese Cross of Newton Stewart to entire letter, dated 27 Oct. 1840, to Edinburgh, boxed datestamp in the same colour on reverse; light vertical filing fold well clear of the adhesive.
