AL, uncancelled and with good balanced margins all round, affixed to page from 1840 day-to-day diary, dated "Monday, MAY 4, 1840" and "Tuesday 5" with manuscript entry for that day including "New Post office stamps commenced, ie Adhesives & Covers". Very fine and an important historical item. Although the new adhesive postage stamps were valid for use from May 6 1840 the 1d. stamps were put on sale from 1 May. B.P.A. Certificate (2017). Photo
