#27, 1867 2kr Yellow, coarse print, tied to1870 entire folded letter to Kolosvar being a publisher's subscription advertisement, in mixed franking with 1868 1kr Pink and black on white paper vertical pair (Phil. Hun. #1), this very rare vertical pair was applied to the cover apparently believing that this would serve as postage, the post office accepted it as properly paid and was normally cancelled by the post office with "Szobrancz 7/9" c.d.s. postmark, however at the transit post office in Kassa with "Kassa 8/9 70" c.d.s on reverse the letter was apparently returned not accepting the tax stamps as postage, the 2kr Yellow was applied and cancelled by the same Szobrancz pmk. on Sept. 9th, additional Kassa transit on the 10th and backstamped in Kolosvar on the 13th, light file fold affecting the top stamp of the pair, otherwise very fine and handsome cover; an extremely rare and possibly unique usage of these advertising tax stamps that were originally accepted as postage.
