Early India, Ujjain (Gujarat & Saurashtra) (c.150-75 BC), Square AE Units (11), taurine-topped standard with six-armed symbol to left and crude human figure right, some with river with fish below, rev. swastika with taurines at end of each arm (7), double swastika (4), all sizes from 7.02g. to 0.43g. (BMC pl.XIX, 5-6, Pieper 424-31; MAC 4625-28), average condition fine, representative of all denominations of this series, extremely rare as such (11)
Pieper notes that coins of the type in this and the following lot are usually found in the Junagadh region of Gujarat. Although not bearing the Ujjain symbol on the reverse they are usually associated with the Ujjain series.
