provenance:
ex L A Lawrence; Bt A H Baldwin, March 1960
This coin was illustrated in Lawrence’s 1915 article on the Short Cross coinage where it was given as a Class VII-Vic mule. Lord Stewarby’s envelope records this as a VIc1/2 mule. The lettering appears shorter than usual for a 6c and the S has crescent ends, but the R has the longer serif associated with class 6, i.e the lettering is mixed.
