Australia - Victoria: 1857 (22 July) Augustine Heard wrapper to Canton "pr 'Colombian' viâ Galle" bearing Victoria 1857 roulette 4d. vermilion tied by "1/4" barred oval; the flap, which open well for display, with Melbourne despatch oval and Hong Kong (7.9) transit c.d.s. Light folding crease and a few age spots.


An interesting cover showing unofficial roulettes as sides. The rouletting machine was not introduced in the Melbourne post office until August 1857. Photo
