Kobdo
1917 (26 Oct.) red band cover registered to Peking via Harbin and bearing, on the reverse, Russian address label printed in black on white with Russian Arms 5k. and 70k. tied by fine strikes of the Kobdo type 1b c.d.s. with a further, superb, strike struck at right. With Kobdo registration label "No. 268", with Peking bilingual c.d.s. (7.12) and lunar cancel (8.12), the reverse with Russian Post Office Peking c.d.s. (26.11). There is some aging around the edge of the envelope, which is fairly typical of these covers. An exceptionally rare and desirable cover bearing this high value franking, dramatically enhanced but the magnificent strike of the rare Kobdo despatch c.d.s.
This is believed to be the best of the six Kobdo covers recorded. Photo
