Lot: 2225

United Arab Emirates Central Bank, specimen 5 dirhams, printed on 'Bradvek', ND (1982), zero serial numbers, brown on multicolour underprint, Blue Souk in Sharjah at right, numbered B008 on reverse
(Pick 7s for type, TBB B201s for type), Bradvek was a form of Tyvek polymer, first used for printing one of the £1 Isle of Man banknotes in 1983. This ties in perfectly with the date of this note, and proves that trials were performed for other countries as well. There is no watermark or equivalent, but the design is otherwise identical to the 5 dirhams issued in 1982. Completely uncirculated, and a superb discovery. Currently the only example believe extant.
