(x) The Order of St. Ferdinand and of Merit Sash Attributed to King Don Carlos I of Portugal
Italy, Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, Order of St Ferdinand and of Merit, Grand Cross sash Badge, 100mm including crown suspension x 69mm, silver-gilt and enamel, enamel replaced upon top fleur-de-lys in angles of arms of cross, minor repair to reverse of one fleur-de-lys, otherwise very fine, with full sash riband

King Don Carlos I of Portugal, (1863-1908), hailed from the House of Braganza-Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and ruled as King of Portugal and the Algarves from October 1889; this insignia is understood to have been conferred upon the marriage of his nephew Prince Wilhelm of Hohenzollern-Sigmarigen to Princess Maria Teresa of the Two Sicilies, 1889; King Don Carlos I was assassinated 1.2.1908, in Lisbon, together with his son and heir-apparent, Luís Filipe, Prince Royal of Portugal, Duke of Braganza.
