1896 (19 Oct.) envelope (complete with letter from H. Gardner, Treasurer) registered from Eshowe to Germany, bearing ½d. and 1d. (6) with fine double-ring datestamps and showing oval-framed "R" handstamp at lower left corner, Durban and Metz c.d.s. on reverse; the letter refers to the Post Office not being able to sell stamps to anyone outside the Colony.
