1891 (Apr.) pre-printed and paid soldier's envelope for members of The Royal Scots (crest on flap), addressed to a private in the Royal Scots at Pietermaritzburg, bearing an uncancelled example and with circular-framed "2d" tax mark at upper left, Durban (18.4) and G.P.O. Natal (20.4) c.d.s. on reverse. A most unusual usage of the stamp on mail, probably posted in Natal and which was not accepted by the Natal authorities until after the official proclamation of 27 June 1891. Photo
