Founded in 1896, the company operated a light railway from Elbing (today: Elblag, Poland) to Braunsberg (today: Braniewo). The company's name refers to the track running on the waterfront of the Vistula Lagoon (German: Frisches Haff, Polish: Zalew Wislany), a brackish water lagoon on the Baltic Sea between Elblag and Kaliningrad. The line is more or less still existing,but over the years has been frequently closed and opened again.
