Sea Gallantry Medal, G.V.R., silver (Peter Fisher. H.M.T. "Caronia", May, 1917.), nearly extremely fine, scarce

Private Peter Fisher, served with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Highlanders during the Great War; awarded the Sea Gallantry Medal as one of 18 soldiers from various regiments who helped to put out fires on board H.M. Transport Ship Caronia, May 1917, whilst she was on troop transporting duties between Halifax and Liverpool.

Approximately 27 silver and 10 bronze Sea Gallantry Medals have been awarded to Officers and men in the Army, 1857-1923. Fisher's medal is unique to the Royal Highlanders.
