3-2808 Private John Griffin enlisted in the East Yorkshire Regiment and served with the 1st Battalion in South Africa and during the Great War on the Western Front from 8.10.1914; awarded Special Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, Army Order, January 1915; subsequently served in the 3rd (Beverley) Battalion, East Riding Home Guard.
