3344 Corporal James Hilson, born Dalkeith, Scotland; enlisted in the 79th Highlanders, February 1853; served with the Regiment in Turkey and the Crimea for 2 years 43 days, and in India for 14 years 100 days; discharged, February 1875.
Note: The medal roll for the Crimea shows he is not entitled to the Balaklava clasp; however, the medal appears entirely as issued.
