1949 Corporal John Gosheron, born Shadwell, London, 1871; enlisted in the 2nd Life Guards, August 1894, having previously served for 4 years and 102 days in the 1st Royal Dragoons; served with the Regiment in South Africa, December 1899 to August 1900; promoted Corporal, 23.12.1901; discharged, 7.10.1902, after a further 8 years and 48 days with the Colours.
