995 Trooper Thomas Martin, born 1856; enlisted in the 2nd Life Guards, November 1877; served with the combined Regiment of Household Cavalry during the Egyptian Campaign, August to October 1882, and took part in the Cavalry charge at Kassassin, the action at Tel-el-Kebir, and the occupation of Cairo; discharged, February 1885, after 7 years and 90 days with the Colours.
