#42a var., 1870 10c Bister on yellowish, Ty. B, wonderfully fresh mint single, full well clear to large margins, in addition to which all four sides show rouletting (perces en lignes), brilliant color, full fresh o.g. with just a trace of hinging, very fine; the early imperforates were privately rouletted and are usually collected on piece or cover to establish authenticity, but mint examples exist making for a nice variety; catalog values are for the normal imperforate (Yvert #43B; Ç1,000).
