Bahri Mamluk, Aybak (1250-57), AV Dinar, 4.06g, in the name of Ayyubid king al-Ashraf Musa, al-Qahira, date not legible (AH649-51), different obverse legend arrangement (cf. Balog 3-4; A.831), edges weak, otherwise very fine and rare

Although al-Ashraf Musa II was a son of al-Ma’sud Yusuf, the last Ayyubid ruler, all coins bearing his name were actually struck by the Mamluk ruler Aybak who used the Ayyubid heir as a puppet king to justify his rule.
