The town was surrounded by the Transvaal Army on 12 October 1899. The siege last seven months and the town was relieved on 17 May 1900 after 217 days

1900 (16 Apr.) envelope to "Mr. Isaacs, Dalls Store, Market Square", bearing seriffed overprint Bechuanaland Protectorate 6d. on 2d. green and carmine Types 1 and 4, both neatly cancelled; folded horizontally and vertically which is typical of mail carried by "bycycle" boy scout. S.G. 13. Photo
