Highgate Archway Company, £50 share, 18[13], no.1835, attractive early piece with orange seal at left within scrollwork, black on thick paper, very fine

Formed to cut a tunnel through the steep hill at Highgate, North London, which collapsed when almost complete, forming the present cutting. The company then built the bridge across, which was rebuilt at the turn of the 20th century.
