1855 (13 July) entire addressed to "Neustadt, Kingdom of Hannover, Germany", marked "By the Marcopolo", bearing 1855 London printing 2d. rose-carmine strip of three with just clear (at top right) to large margins, tied by GPO lozenges roller cancel, showing "paid/adelaide s.a.", "australian/paid/liverpool/packet" (20.10) and London Paid (22.10) datestamps in red, blue manuscript accountancy markings and, on reverse, "england per aachen" (23.20) and arrival (24.10) datestamps. An outstanding first issue cover showing pre-payment only as far as England. In addition this is one of only seven recorded frankings to overseas destinations other than Great Britain (one to each of Cape of Good Hope, Dutch Indies and Italy, and four to German States).
