1857 (8 Aug.) small envelope from Leicester to Matelle, marked "viâ Marseilles, prepaid" with "viâ Southampton" crossed through and bearing G.B. 1855-57 6d. with 1d. Stars and 2d. plate 7 tied by Leicester sideways duplex and "449" barred ovals plus Colombo Post Paid c.d.s., the reverse with London transit, Kandy Post Paid c.d.s. and a fine strike of "matelle/post-paid" in black with manuscript "4/9/59" date insertion; light vertical crease and some peripheral soiling
