Cnut (1016-35), Penny, 1.15g, quatrefoil type, London, Eadwi, +cnvt rex anglor, crowned bust left within quatrefoil, trefoil of pellets behind, rev. +eadwi on lvn, long cross voided on quatrefoil with rosettes at cusps (N.786 var; S.1157 var), small area of surface delamination on reverse under magnification, good quality of metal, very fine, an extremely rare variety with the reverse rosettes
North, vol. I, p.167-8 lists a variety with trefoils surmounting the reverse cusps but not rosettes
