LANG, John Dummore. The Australian Emigrant's Manual; or, A Guide to the Gold Colonies of New South Wales and Port Phillip. London, 1852, 2nd and best revised edition. Small octavo, 126 pages. Original brown blind-stamped boards, title gilt on front board, corners bumped and a little rubbed at edges, minor foxing to some pages, otherwise very good. Captain W.H. Hitchcock's copy who erected a miner's tent in Ballarat in 1851.

The book offers advice to would be emigrants emphasising the difficulties.
