Oblong folio, 570x235mm, consisting of two pages of introductory text followed by 12 panoramic views and 55 views of 175x120mm, of Johannesburg, Transvaal and Pretoria. Housed in an extraordinary illustrated, padded binding, all page edges gilt, brass catch at right edge partly missing. Four of the large format plates show Robinson Deep Gold Mine, Crown Deep Gold Mine, "Simmer & Jack" Gold Mine and Cullinans "Premier" Diamond Mine.
