Poyaisian Land Debenture, 1839, certificate no.401 for 1000 acres, attractive vignette of Britannia and Poyaisian native reaching to eac other across the seas, black, some wear at folds and tip of top right corner removed, about very fine.

The debentures granted land in perpetuity to the holder subject to an annual rental of 1 cent per acre. The fraudulent Poyais scheme collapsed shortly afterwards when it became general knowledge that the land was almost uninhabitable.
