Republic of China, 6% 3-Year Gold Loan, 1916, also known as the Chicago Bank Loan, a specimen certficate for $1000, printed by the American Bank Note Co., one of only 2 or possibly 3 found in the archives, pagoda at top, ornate border, olive green and black, with coupons, tri-folded otherwise about extremely fine and very rare.

This loan was repaid in 1919 by a further dollar loan and to date no cancelled or issued bonds are known to exist. Of the three specimens one was sold by Smythe in New York some 15 years ago and we can find no trace of any further sales since that date.
