Allectus (293-96), AE Antoninianus, London, radiate, cuirassed bust right, imp c allectvs p f avg, rev. adventvs avg, Allectus on horseback advancing to left, ml in ex. (RIC - ; Shiel - ), apparently unrecorded, good fine
The adventvs avg type is known only in gold for Allectus and usually has a prone captive beneath the horse. This coin omits the captive so it seems to have been struck from dies prepared for a bronze issue. This coin is the first recorded for this type. From an old collection formed in North West England by a collector now deceased, acquired before 1990.
