AK, good to large margins, on 1840 30 Dec. entire letter, addressed to London, tied by light red Maltese Cross cancellation, reverse bearing (Wey)bridge (?) transit d.s. and London arrival (31.12); with interesting contents "My Dear Sir, I have received your letter of the ; and have applied to the Secretary of State, that His Lordship was to take Her Majesty´s pleasure hereby permitting Reverend H Melville Chaplain of the Tower to remain as the Lieutenant till the 15 April next 1841. Ever My dear Sor your much obedient, honourable friend, Wellington". Most unusual with an 1840 1d. black. Rare. Photo
