South Australia Departmentals overprints were applied to rouletted or perforated stamps. Perfection is almost unobtainable because so many of the stamps which were overprinted had been withdrawn from public sale because they were considered unsuitable to isue. Appaling centering was often remedied by severing the stamps with scissors as if they were imperforate.

In black: Rouletted, wmk Star, 2d. orange-red vertical pair with straight-edge at top, and Perf 10 4d., a "tall" example, both used, the latter with small thin at left, otherwise fine. (both S)
