Puzey Correspondence
1892 (Mar.) envelope from Andrew Puzey, probably in Manicualand at Umtali, "per Coast Route" to his mother in East London, showing a faint strike of the "governmento districtoo/de/mainca/secretaria" with manuscript notations and framed Durban "ship letter" handstamp, the reverse with small part Durban c.d.s. and East London datestamp (13.5); small part at top torn away and lacking most of flap. Probably carried by runner to the railhead and postage of 50 reis paid, there being an endorsement in Portuguese to that effect. The rainy season would have affected the more usual route to the south. Drysdall and Collis Anp. 5. Photo
